Dreamforce offers a great opportunity for networking. Not only is it a way to meet new people – it’s also the place to reconnect with those who you already know. But successful networking doesn’t come easy, and you need to keep a few things in mind. Here’s how to network at Dreamforce the right way.

Plan In Advance

We hope you’ve scheduled most of your meetings by the time this blog post is up. Make sure you reach out to the contacts and arrange a get together. Do make sure you’re thoughtful about their time as well as your own time, so determine why you want to meet up with them prior to reaching out.

Give People Your Full Attention

Dreamforce can get crazy – all of your senses will be stimulated every second of the day. But don’t let that be an excuse to get distracted by other things that are happening in the room. Giving the person with whom you’re speaking your full attention is one of the most important things when you’re networking.

Spend Time in the Break Room

In hopes to make every minute count, it’s tempting to fill up your calendar with meetings and breakout sessions. But try to carve in some time to spend in the break room, where you can meet new people and start interesting conversations.

Use Social Media

Some might say your phone isn’t the way the meet new people at conferences, but attendees and speakers will be tweeting their way through Dreamforce without a shadow of a doubt. Use social media to connect with people you haven’t arranged a meeting with yet. Twitter is also a way to compliment and engage with speakers.

Listen

Networking becomes challenging when no one is listening to what is being said. Carefully listening to the other person gives you the ability to reply with a meaningful answer. It’s the only way to learn about what the other person does and how you may be able to help each other.
