Nonprofits Guide to Dreamforce 2017

Over 171,000 people from 83 countries attended Dreamforce 2016 last year. Over 8,000 of these attendees were from nonprofits, making it the largest nonprofit tech event to date.

Certainly, Dreamforce 2017 presents exciting opportunity for nonprofits. However, for first-time attendees, the experience may seem overwhelming!

Nonprofits need not worry, because there are many smart ways to make the most of Dreamforce.

Welcome to the Salesforce.org Lodge

For nonprofits at Salesforce, the Salesforce.org Lodge is your domain. Here is where you’ll find breakout sessions exclusively related to your field. In addition, the Lodge hosts products and vendors uniquely tailored for and qualified to serve nonprofits and their missions.

Learn About Salesforce

Last year, there were 3,300 breakout sessions and theater sessions, over 118 of which held by nonprofits. Naturally, it can be difficult to decide which sessions to attend. With workshops and hands-on learning sessions on a variety of topics and products, it helps to predetermine which products you want to dive into, e.g. Pardot or Marketing Cloud.

View the official Dreamforce 2017 Agenda Builder for a full online schedule. Once you find the sessions most interesting to you, sign up in advance and add them to your calendar.

Connect With Your Vendors

Dreamforce is a fantastic way to meet your current vendors and potentially meet new ones. Prior to the conference, your current vendors will likely reach out to see if you’re attending.

With many vendors holding various parties and events, don’t be shy! Seize the opportunity to attend and learn more about them and their staff.

Connect With Your Peers

What makes the nonprofit community at Dreamforce unique is the fact that almost every organization is on the Salesforce platform.

As a result, this the perfect time to connect with your peers at other organizations and learn about how they are using the platform. Outside of sessions, this can be a great way to learn about new tools and practices to help your org.

Don’t Skip the Customer Success Expo

While the Salesforce.org Lodge may be the place for nonprofits, avoid spending all of your time there! Go out and venture to the Customer Success expo at Moscone for inspiration on other topics.

This is also a great place to stock up on swag!

Pace Yourself

With all of the exciting opportunities at Dreamforce, it can be easy to overbook yourself! However, to truly maximize the experience, remember not to over-schedule.

In order to pace yourself and avoid burnout, limit the number of meetings and appointments you sign up for, leaving ample time for breaks.

Don’t Forget to Have Fun

Don’t miss out on some of the most memorable parts of Dreamforce! You can count on seeing various live music performances near the Customer Success Expo at Moscone.

Even more, don’t neglect your chance to see the main music event, Dreamfest. Having hosted major acts in the past like U2, Bruno Mars, and Stevie Wonder, you can expect Salesforce to make every edition of this concert special.

In addition, every year hosts inspirational talks by world-famous leaders and personalities. This year includes Michelle Obama, Ashton Kutcher, Sylvia Acevedo (CEO of Girl Scouts), Kasper Rorsted (CEO of Adidas) and more to be announced.
